High on a hill in the Lakes Region of central Maine sits an architectural treasure known as the Trebor Mansion Inn. Built in 1830 and once owned by a United States Senator, the Trebor Mansion's origins are shrouded in mystery.
Although it was widely held by the locals to be "haunted", and didn't even have electricity and plumbing in the main structure until 1976, the original artwork, Moses Eaton stencils and stained glass windows were preserved, and it is still crowned by it's original slate roof. Although nearly destroyed in a massive fire on 1-24-2004, today the Mansion's elegant guest rooms welcome travelers from all over the world.
Our three acres of hilltop lawns with mature oaks and sugar maples look down on the the Piscataquis River, and you are welcome to laze about on the verandah or take a stroll about the grounds. We have picnic areas, swings and benches for your enjoyment. Or you can saunter 400 feet or so down to the historic Carnegie Library on our front lawn.
The guests have the run of the Inn---a 5000 square foot structure which is private from the owners quarters---with a verandah, a wrap-around porch, and four balconies. Artwork, books and eclectic furnishings can be found in every room. We try to treat our guests to privacy, giving them as much space as they desire. The atmosphere is informal. You may do as you please.
Trebor Mansion Inn caters to everyone who is interesting enough to show up at our door, from hikers just in from the wilderness and bicyclists to world travelers and the urban elites.

Directions:
Driving Directions to Trebor Mansion Inn: We are on Route 15, "The Moosehead Trail," one block east of the bridge in the center of Guilford on the hill above the Carnegie Library. Look up---it's the big beautiful yellow and purple mansion on the hill (the color scheme is Imperial Rome meets Han China, in case you were wondering...). Our entrance and parking are in the rear.
FROM I-95: Go north at Exit #157 at Newport and take Route 7 to Dexter. (This is the route traveled by the alien in Stephen King's latest book, if that'll help any.). Watch out for the left turn in Corinna when Route 7 veers north. At the light in the center of Dexter, continue straight and your next left will be Route 23 North, the Moosehead Trail. Take that left and go about 12 miles, through the village of Sangerville, over the new bridge to the T intersection with Route 15. You have to turn, so turn left, go into Guilford and the Mansion is a block past the Shell Station on your right on the hill above the Library.
FROM SKOWHEGAN: Take Route 150 all the way straight to Guilford. Go over the bridge past the dam in the center of Guilford and bear right on Route 15 East. We are one block from the bridge on the left on the hill above the Library.
FROM BANGOR OR DOVER-FOXCROFT: Take Route 15 West straight through Dover-Foxcroft and continue 8 miles, passing Low's Covered Bridge on the way. As you enter the village of Guilford, we are just past the Shell Station on your right on the hill above the Library.
