The Stockade Bed and Breakfast, Baton Rouge

Named after the Union stockade that occupied the site during the Civil War, The Stockade is located near LSU and downtown Baton Rouge on historic Highland Road. The Stockade, located on historic Highland Road near LSU and downtown Baton Rouge, is a large Spanish-style hacienda with six comfortable guestrooms. Once a Civil War stockade, the bed and breakfast is named after its 19th century military origin and is listed on the National Registration of Historical Places as an archeological site. A guarded entrance at the road greets guests as they enter the property and serves as a reminder of The Stockade’s interesting past.

Highland Stockade encompasses approximately 30 acres of wooded land part of which is home to the original Stockade Cemetery. The bed and breakfast is situated upon a high bluff descending into low land that was once the riverbed of Ole Man River, the Mississippi . It is this geological contrast from which the name Highland Road is derived.

The Great Room.Located in the center of the house, the great room is the focal point of the hacienda. A baby grand Yamaha piano plays on command, there is a large wood-burning fireplace and water plays over a custom sculpted copper fountain in the corner. A floor-to-ceiling glass wall looks out onto one of two outdoor patios available for guests' use.
