The Fan House
Wilderness, perennial gardens, pristine lake surround this 1840 country house with European charm. Walk, hike, bike, swim, boat nearby. Superb country breakfasts.

Near Woodstock, VT, home of the conservation / environmental movement in the US. Once a Civil war home front.

One mile from former home of Sinclair Lewis and Dorothy Thompson. Their Twin Farms, now a resort, is considered the most sophisticated resort in the country by Conde Nast Traveler.

The Fan House is excellent site for exploring most of Vermont and even going up to Montreal and over to Boston.

I booked this B&B for my sister and her husband. It is just lovely and quite European in flair. In fact, once inside, one feels like a guest in an elegant French farmhouse. Sara, the hostess, is most welcoming and her breakfasts outside on the 'Vermont' terrace are FRESH and divine. A great pick for quiet country getaways. July 2010
