Sandpiper Inn by the Sea
The Sandpiper Inn has been welcoming guests for over 72 years - only steps from the white sandy beaches of Carmel, where you can lull yourself to sleep to the sound of the surf. The Inn's early California architecture is complemented by country antiques, patios and award-winning gardens.

All of the rooms have private baths, fresh flowers and individual decor. Several of the rooms have an ocean view or beach views across the bay to Pebble Beach and some have their own fireplace. There are also a few very private cottage rooms, nestled among the flowers, behind the Inn.

Breakfast is served in the spacious lounge - granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, orange juice, pastries (baked daily by their pastry chef) and a beverage of your choice.

In the afternoon, tea and sherry are offered and in the evening you may want to curl up in front of the Carmel-stone fireplace with a good book, watch TV, or just muse upon your day's discoveries.

I was travelling with another single friend and we had reserved 2 rooms. We received a warm welcome and offered tea in the sitting room, there were gas fires burning and i was informed of a small nature reserve only a few minutes walk away where i had an enjoyable walk and saw lots of birds. Breakfast was good but both rooms were in the annex and were slightly damp feeling especially after a chilly night. The walls were rather thin so bathroom noise from nextdoor was enough to wake me up. Nice bed linen & decor and a comfortable bed, good residential location but car needed for dinner in Carmel itself. Parking easy too. It was good for our one night stop which was just what we needed.
