Start your day with a full multi course breakfast featuring recipes from past generations, served family style. Our English country gardens make a lovely place to enjoy your meal, relax with a book or experience nature at her best. Spend your afternoons or evenings outside on one of our stone walled patio’s or out under the stars with that special someone.

And on those less than perfect days, a cozy cup of tea or hot chocolate by a romantic fire in the living room, or perhaps a glass of a fine Oregon wine will give you a boost after a long day outside.

Originally opened as the first hotel and resort on Mt Hood and then as a boarding house for the local schoolteachers and others, the Welch family ran the Hotel and started the first nine holes of the local golf course. Around 1936, Billy and Jeannie Welch closed the hotel and remodeled it into a small family home.

Innkeepers, Ted and Judi in 1987 have again re-modeled and restored that structure into the current tranquil setting that is the Old Welches Inn. Ted and Judi will provide you with warm and personable hospitality that is indicative of their southern roots.
