This historic bed and breakfast inn reflects the grace and beauty of the mid-Victorian era. Each room, named for a popular hotel of the era, has a fireplace and/or balcony and is uniquely styled with antique and period furnishings. The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming, cheerful and interesting with its wealth of period wallpapers – designed to take you away from the sameness of many modern homes. The sense of times past blends with the needs of today’s world – all possible modern amenities (“All the things the Victorians would have had if they could”) include high speed broad band cable in each room plus WiFi– no extra charge; phone with voice mail, A/C, hair dryer, iron/board, flat screen TV’s, DVD player plus free movies. There is ample free parking on the 2 acres of estate grounds. The morning full-breakfast buffet gets rave reviews; guests can choose to eat family style in the formal dining room, on the terrace, the breakfast porch, or in their own room. Mira Monte’s mission is: to provide relaxation and comfort in beautiful, quiet surroundings. It’s your vacation and you get to make the choices that meet your needs. We vacation in Bar Harbor every year and the Mira Monte just makes our time more special. The rooms are unique and inviting, with old world charm and every modern amenity you could possibly need. But that's not what brings us back... The breakfasts are delicious with a comfortable at home feel. But that's not what brings us back either...The warm and welcoming staff here feel more likeold friends than caregivers in the service industry. But it is Marian herself, the Grande Dame of Bar harbor with her uncanny knowlrdege of all things Desert Island whom we miss as soon as we leave. She is wise in so many fields and a master of conversation. Not stopping at the Mira Monte while in Bar Harbor would be a missed opportunity to get the most from your vacation. Jean&Julian Edison NJ

We found Mira Monte online and took a chance. We were very pleased with the location, our room, the breakfast, and the entire experience. The owner and staff were all very friendly and helpful, offering suggestions for dining and hiking in the park. The room was spotless and comfortable and we had a nice little balcony looking out over a lovely flower garden. From 5 to 7 each day they set up wine and cheese in the parlor which provided a great opportunity to sit and visit with other guests and the owner or manager. The only thing that was less than perfect was our mattress which seemed a little "tired", and parking was a bit tight one evening, but neither of those things seriously detracted from the experience. We enjoyed it very much.

We had a wonderful time staying at the Mira Monte Inn. We found it online and it definitely met our expectations. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we loved being able to walk back and forth into town, the food was amazing, the room was large and inviting, the porch a nice outdoor option, and the free "happy hour" a great plus. It was nice having a buffet style breakfast and different seating options. Everyone we met staying there was very pleased and many were repeat guests, so that tells you something!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Mira Monte Inn Last June 2011 and it was a very special and romantic, relaxed and welcoming stay. Everybody at the Inn is very approachable. The place itself is just within walking distance from the restaurants/bars/shopping areas downtown. And the food is warm!!! We always had full brunch! We moved to 3 different rooms but we didn't mind the process, every room is special. My boyfriend really liked them all. If we are going back to visit Bar Harbor, we will stay at Mira Monte Inn again. It reminds me of my grandma's old big house with a warm loving feeling. Couldn't stop telling my friends about the Inn! Marian Burns, the owner offers wine & cheese from 5:00 to 7:00 each day and holds court telling stories, giving advice.. so much fun. It’s a big B&B, so there are a lot of people chatting. Fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies and coffee are available afternoons and evenings. We stayed in two rooms, the Central Station and Newport, and preferred the latter because of its classy decor. Both were roomy and very quiet. The location is fine, it's fun to walk around the town. The owner and staff are truly local to Bar Harbor and have a lot of personal stories to share. They couldn't be more hospitable. There is a lot of beautiful furniture, lovely china, and a buffet breakfast that is fresh and imaginative.

Returning to Mira Monte is very much like returning home. We felt we were seeing old friends, and Marion and her long-time staff made our visit once again special. We are always relaxed and comfortable in "our home" in Bar Harbor. The breakfast is still wonderful (coffe could be a little stronger) and the muffins are great! We look forward to our next visit.

We've stayed here 2 years in a row and loved both times. The owner knows everything about Bar Harbor and MDI. The rooms are comfortable, cozy, charming and more than what you would expect. We have stayed in BH about 20 times, for 35 a night to 250. You wont find better than this. Wine and cheese with Marion at 5 is so special. Breakfast is too. This is not a concrete and steel Tommie W special. It has charm and character of Bar Harbor, not Lost Wages NV. Our plans were doomed we thought with the fog and rain. Marion asked me if I liked cars and save the trip suggesting the Seal Harbor Auto Museum and lunch on the way back. We thoroughly enjoyed both. You wont be dissapointed.

This Bed and Breakfast is very nice. The breakfast is excellent, a huge variety of items to choose from, homemake granola, waffles, 2 types of egg casseroles, one always vegetarian. Yogurt, cottage cheese, fresh fruit, types of muffins, the list goes on.....in the afternoon, there was wine and cheese, a jar of fresh homemade cookies, hot coffee is always in the containers waiting for us! Marion is extremely helpful, she knows everything about the area! The room was very nice, clean, with a very large bathroom. We had a jacuzzi and fireplace, and a canopy bed, it was all beautiful and peaceful. Highly recommend!

We stayed four nights at the Mira Monte, an extremely gracious B & B with an excellent quiet location near the main street. The inn keepers were extremely knowledgeable about the area and events and had excellent suggestions of appropriate activities during our stay that may not have been easily accessible to a newcomer. The breakfasts are delicious with a great variety of tasty choices and the wine, cheese, etc. in the afternoon a nice touch. I would recommend this B & B highly to any of my friends.

We stayed only 2 nights at the Mira Monte. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer! Very gracious from the moment we arrived. Location great; easy and pleasant walk to main street. Excellent breakfast. The innkeeper was very helpful as to area attractions, restaurants, etc. If in the area again, we would definitely return to the Mira Monte Inn.

This is a wonderful option for staying in the Bar Harbor area. The breakfast is a perfect 10! The B & B rooms are a much better choice than some run-of-the-mill hotel. Plus, evening wine, cheese and crackers. Another bonus, walking distance to the village area.

The Mira Monte Inn was amazing, from booking online to the time we departed our experience with the Inn owners and staff was excellent. Our room was spacious, bed was comfortable, fireplace was nice. Wonder view of the gardens just off our balcony. The Inn was perfect location, 5min walk to downtown area, 5 min drive to go hiking, climbing etc. The Inn got us going each morning with breakfast, and it was such a delicious breakfast, they have an awesome chef/baker/cook! If you are planning a trip to Bar Harbour, then the Mira Monte Inn should be your place to stay. For our future visits to Bar Harbour, we will be making the Mira Monte Inn our place to stay!

We arrived in Bar Harbour, when it was already getting dark and we were somewaht in panic to find a good B&B. We walked along Mount Desert Street and picked the Mira Monte Inn "by chance". We never regretted it however. It is a charming place and our room was really comfortable. The owner and all other people there took excellent care of us.

We are so fortunate to have found the Mira Monte Inn. The hospitality and atmosphere were so inviting and relaxing allowing us to completely unwind during our stay. It is within walking distance to downtown and the shops. The room was very comfortable and it was so quite. The breakfast provided was outstanding and the owner and staff were wonderful and very helpful with the history of the area and places of interest. We were so impressed we will be back next year!

We stayed 2 nights over the October 21 st weekend. The room was spacious for the 3 adults and very clean. The location was great. Short car trip to Acadia and a very short walk to all restaurants and shops in downtown Bar Harbor. The breakfast was excellent. The owner was there every morning for breakfast and in the evening for the wine and cheese. We will definitely be back. We highly recommend Mira Monte.

Our first experience, just taking a chance. Wonderful place on every dimension....and the owner makes you feel like you are part of a big family. We had to hug when we left! And...we got a chance to meet other folks and had very interesting conversations, including sharing diverse political views! Totally recommend...and would love to return if we are ever again on the East Coast. Acadia National Park is also quite beautiful...it condenses into a small space a complex of natural features...mountains, ocean, islands, etc.
