Built in 1884, this historic Victorian mansion is located on Hwy 29 south of St. Helena within walling distance from wineries. Sits on acres of Vineyards, Olives Trees, Grand Lawns, and Gardens. Onsite bicycles, croquet, and a pro horseshoe pit. A sunny wrap around porch, 3 large parlors, and a third floor glass observatory 50 feet above the valley. Guestrooms feature views of the vineyards, king & queen beds, antique furnishings, central heat/air, flat screen TVs, wireless internet and private baths in all rooms. A full hot Country Breakfast (egg dishes, homemade breads, sausage, fruit, orange juice, tea, coffee)happy hour with wine and appetizers on the weekends with vintners pouring (most nights), and full concierge services.

Elvis filmed "Wild in the Country" here and stayed in our very popular "French Room"

WINTER SPECIAL: 3 NIGHTS FOR THE PRICE OF TWO! DECEMBER 1 - APRIL 1.

GROUNDS: 4 acres including our own petite sirah vineyard, wrap around porch, large lawns and picnic areas, an 1885 barn, lots of fruit trees that you are welcome to snack from (fig, peach, apple, persimmon, loquat). On the National Historic Registry as the headquarters of the famed Helios Ranch that dominated the Napa Valley in the 1880s.

Rooms:

French & Torino Room: Deluxe king rooms that were large former master bedrooms. Decorated in sturdy period antiques with king beds, large bathrooms, plasma TVs, and mini-bar fridges. Overlooking the Whitehall Lane expansive vineyards and our english garden and lawns. Elvis fans know that the king lived in the French Room for three months while filming a movie in Napa in 1960 -- antique headboard, armoire, and loveseat are still the same!

Rose Room: Mid-size King Room decorated in sturdy antiques, king bed, walk-in closet, good-sized bathroom, plasma TV, and mini-bar fridge. Just a bit smaller than the two deluxe king rooms. Overlooks the Whitehall Lane winery vineyards and our front garden and fountain.

Vineyard Suite: Two small rooms combined into a nice junior suite with bedroom with king bed plus parlor and the largest bathroom in the house. Decroated in sturdy antiques, the parlor has a plasma TV and a cabinet bed that produces a double bed with fully thick mattress when opened to accomodate an additonal guest.

Harvest & Blue Rooms: Smaller rooms that have queen beds, plasma TVs, decorated in elegant antiquest and overlook the Ink House Petite Sirah vineyard. Smaller bathrooms with showers.

Happy Hour: Wine and appetizers are served each evening on the weekend nights from 4:30 - 5:30, often with a local vintner pouring their latest creations, complimentary of course, for our guests. Dinner reservations, wine-hunting stories from guests, stories on Ink House history and legend from the Innkeeper, and enjoyable conversation often keep this happy hour going much longer than 60 minutes!

Winery VIP Tastings: Surrounded by eight world class wineries that all waive their tasting fees for Ink House guests, the Ink House also has dozens of additional winery partners that constantly drop off tasting passes and other invitations to VIP events for the guests to enjoy.

Rates: Rooms range from $189 to $275 per night and are discounted at a 2 for 1 (weeknight) or 3 for 2 (weekend) special during the winter months.

Awards: The Ink House is consistently rated one of the top small inns in the Napa Valley. Annually earning the Small Elegant Hotel certification, it is also featured on the CBS TV show The Price Is Right as the lodging for the Napa Valley prize package, has been selected by KRON-TV for the Best of the Bay Award for Napa County Inns and B&Bs, was selected by Zagat as one of the Top Ten B&Bs of the Napa Valley in 2011, and the Ink House Observatory has been voted one of the Best Places to Kiss in the San Francisco Bay Area.

G'day Ink House you were awesome to stay at! We had a lovely time with the brilliant service from the innkeepers and the relaxing French room. A first class place to stay and they don't bust your wallet, fair dinkum all the way around! Took home some recipes for the big American breakfasts to surprise our friends. Only problem was that we were way too close to wineries and drank too much wine!

What a great place! Thanks so much to the Ink House for making our anniversary visit to Napa such a nice time. We left the frozern north on this trip and couldn't have had warmer hospitality. Rachel was very helpful with dinner reservations, winery recommendations, and even set up a hot air balloon ride on our anniversary. The breakfasts are to die for and you are smack in the middle of so many wineries it is overwhelming! We could not recommend this more highly and hope to return in the future.

This was a wonderful surprise for us as we usually stay at the large hotel chains. The breakfast was so good, the room was spacious and comfy, and we had wineries all around us in walking distance. This great old Victorian house is also fun to explore. Don't forget to take the Winery Tasting passes they offer as it saves you a lot of money and gets you VIP treatment at the wineries. Overall we had a great time in a nostalgic home, but still had the modern amenities of wifi and flat screen TVs. The service was superb and we will definitely be coming back!!

We had a great stay at the Ink House -- wonderful location surrounded by wineries, neat historic property with their own vineyard, killer breakfasts each morning, upgraded to a larger room than we reserved at no extra cost, and dozens of VIP Winery Tasting passes. Really exceeded our expectations with comfort and service as well and a private winery - V.Sattui - pouring for us during happy hour one evening. A great anniversary weekend for us and we shall return!
