This grand old 6,800 sq ft house stands amid gorgeous perennial gardens on this unique Island of Chincoteague on Virginia's Eastern Shore, close to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and beach on Assateague Island. The beautifully furnished en suite guest rooms are spacious and quiet, each with its own sitting area. You’ll be amazed at the peace and serenity of this wonderful old home, enhanced by the fact that none of the guestrooms adjoins another.
We serve a delicious, very full breakfast each morning and offer a traditional English afternoon tea most days. Barbara hails from Leeds, Yorkshire and is well-known for her “world-famous” scones – some Brits have said: “Better than Betty’s!” Barbara is the gardener of the family and is very proud of her lovely gardens. She encourages her guests to take the opportunity to unwind and relax with a good book among the blossoms.
Bicycles are available at no charge – the ideal way to explore the Town and Assateague Island, the latter being famous for its Chincoteague ponies, Sika deer, and numerous species of birds. If a day at the beach is on the agenda we can provide you with beach chairs and umbrellas, towels, cooler, and even a backpack.
We look forward to welcoming you to Chincoteague Island and to the Channel Bass Inn and to making your stay memorable.
