Canyon Crest Lodge was built entirely by its English owners and as its name implies, the lodge sits near the edge of Martinez Canyon 7,400 ft. above sea level with magnificent views of Pagosa Peak and the Great Divide to the north, the beautiful valley of Pagosa to the south and the magical archaeological site of Chimney Rock to the west.
Guests have a large lounge with stone fireplace where during the winter months can enjoy the roaring log fire. There is a large hot tub to soak away the aches of winter sports or summer hiking whilst still enjoying the wonderful views Canyon Crest can serve evening meals with wine beer or spirits, or just soft drinks to be enjoyed whilst sitting on the deck in the summer months or by the log fire in winter.
The local people here in Pagosa refer to the house as the "Englishman’s Castle" therefore the suites are named after famous British castles. Breakfast is included in the room price and can be taken in ones room/deck in the dining room or dining deck weather permitting.
Countless centuries ago, the inhabitants of the Four Corners area of southern Colorado discovered a mineral-rich hot springs on the banks of the San Juan River. During the 1870's a U.S. government fort, Fort Lewis, was established near the site of the springs, and shortly thereafter, a town called Pagosa Springs began growing up along the banks of the San Juan River.
Pagosa Springs boasts a number of sights, sounds, and experiences which are unique to our cultural heritage and location in the Four Corners. From museums to rodeos to world-famous hot springs, Pagosa Country has something for all ages and interests.
