Bauer House B&B, Mancos

The Bauer House is one of the oldest structures in Mancos, seeing its share of owners and playing a big part in Mancos history. Built by the founder of Mancos, George Bauer, in 1890, the home was the first of its type in the area. It’s three stories, towered above the mud houses and thatched roofed cabins throughout the valley. Bauer, who was the wealthiest man in Southwest Colorado, opened the town’s first trading company, general store and founded the valley’s first bank in 1881. He also was the mayor of Mancos for many years.

The four bedrooms include the "China Room," "Wicker Room", "Brass Room" and the Bauer Suite." There is also a spacious penthouse on the third floor decorated in Southwestern style, with a complete view of the mountains and Mesa Verde National Park.

A full breakfast is served in the dining room or on the patio, and room service is available by special request.
