Aunt Sukies B&B, Cape Cod

Our home was originally built for Aunt Sukie by her brother in about 1830. She was a lady who lived next door to my great grandmother in Truro. She had two husbands, both lost at sea, and a son by each. One son was also lost at sea. In 1929 my grandparents had Aunt Sukie's house moved from Truro to its present location on the water in Wellfleet. In 1993 we built a contemporary addition to the home.

Our B&B combines an antique home built for Aunt Sukie in 1830 by her brother with a contemporary addition completed in 1993. Our grounds are filled with flowers, brick walkways, trees and green lawns. A large deck overlooks the water for leisurely viewing of Wellfleet Bay and the many sailboats and windsurfers.

The beach in front of the house is private for our guests. There is swimming at high tide, exploring the "mudflats" at low tide, sunbathing, walking and jogging, or collecting sea shells any time. The water is clear, calm and warm enough for swimming.

We serve breakfast of home-baked breads and muffins, fresh fruit, homemade jam, fresh-ground coffee, and a selection of teas. Breakfast is served on the main deck or in our dining room area overlooking the water.

In addition to our B&B, we have The House in the Woods, about 1 mile away. It is perfect for 2 couples or a family of 4 with children over age 6. Fireplace, wide pine board floor, antiques and oriental rugs. The bedroom faces to the waterview. The sitting room has a fridge, telephone and an antique desk and an outside door leading to a brick patio with a water view. Private bath with a tile shower and a separate antique clawfoot bathtub. Queen bed.
