Yalbury Cottage Hotel
Pet friendly Yalbury Cottage is a wonderful, cosy Dorset hotel with a friendly atmosphere and wonderful views. Stay and relax in our lovely rooms, enjoy a superb freshly cooked breakfast and dine in our award winning restaurant.

Small bespoke weddings and parties are a speciality and we offer a great alternative venue for private business meetings with easy and ample parking. in the small hamlet of Lower Bockhampton, dates back 300 years and was once home to the local shepherd and the keeper of the water meadows.

Though surrounded by green fields and woodland, we are just two miles from Dorchester and there is ample car parking space.

Bockhampton was the inspiration for the village of Mellstock in Thomas Hardy's Under the Greenwood Tree, and we are a short walk from his birthplace. There are many other places of interest nearby, including castles, gardens, stately homes, picturesque villages and Dorset's magnificent coastline.

We have eight spacious rooms, in the modern part of the building, decorated in a simple cottage style.

Situated in the oldest part of the cottage, the lounge and restaurant are full of character with oak-beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplaces and exposed stone walls. The restaurant offers excellent cuisine and reasonably priced wines in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The lounge and restaurant provide the perfect setting for an intimate dinner, private lunch party or family celebration.

Lovely stay in a Thatched Cottage. Friendly Service, clean room and nice breakfast. It would've been nice to know ahead of time that there was no place to have an evening meal if you hadn't arranged in advance to eat at Yalbury Cottage, we had to travel several miles to find something to eat in the evening.

Apart from the many wonderful beaches in the area, there is lots for all the family to enjoy, from Monkey World to the Tank Museum - Sea life Centre to the local animal farms, there really is something for all ages.
If you wish to abandon your car then we can arrange bicycle hire (they also provide helmets and maps) so you may explore the area the environmentally friendly way. Take a picnic with you and make a real day of it!!!
