West End Hotel
The West End Hotel has recently changed ownership and has undergone extensive refurbishment, offering quality accommodation in the heart of Kirkwall. Today, the owners provide a warm welcome and comfortable guest rooms, each with a shower-only bathroom.

Cost conscious meals are served in a small restaurant and bar. Ideal for small conference retreats or workshops, concerts, lectures, weddings, courses etc. The West End Hotel, in many ways, is the ideal blend of old and new.

From Kirkwall Tourist Information Centre turn left along Broad Street into Victoria Street and straight on to Main Street. The hotel is on the left hand side. From Stromness T.I.C. follow signs for Kirkwall then turn right at Mills filling station. Turn right at the roundabout then first left on to Union Street and right into Main Street, the hotel is on the left hand side.

very generous and helpful hosts lovely old world decor comfortable and warm well located great brekkies even washed and folded our clothes good food in dining room congenial atmosphere lots of locals pop in for drinks, meals

Lovely homely quaint decor. Well located in kirkwall. Great hosts.free laundry service.Generous homecooked breakfasts. Comfortable if cosy rooms.

This is the second time that I have stayed at the 'West End Hotel' in Kirkwall, Orkney, but may be the last. I had problems with room I was given, as I am disabled I found it hard to go to the top floor with only stairs to use, the bedroom was fine, if overlooked from the car park, I must say that I was at no time offered another room and am not even sure if people with mobility problems are catered for at this hotel, I did not ask!! The bathroom was a little cramped, with the heated towel rail scorching my left leg while using the toilet. The hot Scottish breakfast every morning was good, along with a selection of cereals, fruit, toast, fruit juice and yogurts. The owners try very hard to ensure that guests have an enjoyable stay, as they are very polite and as helpful as can be. Overall I would recommend the hotel as it has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere along with competent staff and good service, I would rate the hotel as a 3 Star. It’s just a shame that I may not in futur

Hotel in Kirkwall? There is no other choice than choose the West End Hotel with the charming atmosphere and the friendly service from Giffie and Robert. It is the best place making business or holidays in Kirkwall. We enjoyed it one week!

We had the most wonderful time.Robert and Giffy made us most welcome,gave us advice on what to see each day, and the food was out of this world and plenty of it.We would certainly try to book the West End Hotel when we come back to Orkney.

A fantastic place to stay ,with top class hosts, good food and the rooms are charming. The hotel made our visit to orkney really magical and the worst thing about the place is it makes leaving harder

Stayed for one night in July 2009 and was very satisfied. Reasonably priced comfortable room, good restaurant with loacl food and beer. Private parking which is very useful as parking is difficult in Kirkwall. I wanted to re-book for similar business trip this year but they were unfortunately booked up.

Spotless room very confortable and nice flatscreen tv with lots of channels. Enjoyed a tasty meal and no problems with an early breakfast when catching early ferry. Recommended
