A former farmhouse, parts of which date back to the 1680s, Tynings is set in its own grounds of some four acres and offers relaxed, peaceful and comfortable surroundings where you are always assured of a warm and hospitable welcome from your hosts, Tish and Mike. Please feel free to sit in and walk round the garden. It's there for us all to enjoy.
We very much enjoy having people to stay in our house. Afternoon tea awaits your arrival and may be taken in the garden weather permitting. Apologies, however, to smokers as in the interest of comfort for all our guests, we do have a no smoking policy in the house itself.
Tynings is ideally located for many places of interest being situated just two miles from the historic and picturesque city of Wells and three miles from the mystical Isle of Avalon and Glastonbury, close to the Mendips and the Somerset Levels with its multitude of wildlife. There are local places in the village to eat, or within a short drive many restaurants and inns offer cuisine to suit all tastes.
All three individually decorated bedrooms are en suite. Each room is supplied with a remote controlled TV, hairdryer, hospitality tray including tea/coffee/hot chocolate making facilities, chocolate biscuits, mineral water and fresh flowers. All rooms are comfortable, peaceful and spotless and have attractive views of the open countryside.
The guest lounge is there for you to relax in. It has a television, a CD player, a piano and a small selection of cards/games. We are more than happy to provide a pot of tea or coffee - just ask. The French window opens on to the garden.
Our English oak refectory dining table and chairs provide the perfect setting for a traditional English breakfast. Whether visitors require a very early start to the day, or a more leisurely one, the breakfast menu is anything one wants it to be.
We offer freshly squeezed orange juice and locally produced apple juice, a variety of cereals, fresh fruit, a lightly cooked breakfast (e.g. scrambled eggs on toast) or a full English breakfast, wholemeal and crusty white bread, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. If you prefer a more continental breakfast, just give us a 24 hours notice to ensure we have a selection of cold meats and cheeses. We source as many items locally as are available.
We are pleased to cater for any special diets, with a little notice. Evening meals are by prior arrangement We can provide a two or three course meal.
