The Westbourne, Windermere

The Westbourne is a beautiful, traditionally stone built Lakeland guesthouse. Ideally situated in a peaceful location below a short walk to the picturesque Biskey Howe View Point, where you can overlook Lake Windermere and surrounding mountains.

The House has been sympathetically re-furbished to incorporate modern aspects but still retaining the beauty of the features inside.

Being only a minute's walk to the shops and many restaurants in Bowness makes the Westbourne an excellent base to explore the Lake District.

Resident owners Howard and Amanda offer a warm welcome into their friendly, relaxing home. Where their upmost concern is that all their guests leave the Lake District refreshed, relaxed and with great memories of their holiday.

All our eight bedrooms are en-suite and furnished to a very high standard with a contemporary feel, still retaining the ambience of a Lake District residence but with the added luxuries of modern day.

Complimentary refreshment trays in the bedrooms include, teas, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits replenished every day. We always offer extra of these, please help yourself from reception.
Bathrooms are replenished everyday with fresh towels and luxury toiletries. All beds have luxurious 5 star egyptian cotton bedding.
We pride ourselves with excellent cleanliness standards and with this in mind rooms are fully serviced each day.

Wind down in the evenings in our cosy lounge bar where you can enjoy a good book/magazine, glass of wine whilst sitting by our log burner.

Occupy the children with some of the games on offer or just have a quiet chat and browse through the many information brochures and pamphlets and plan your next day events.

Alternatively on those warm summer evenings take a refreshing drink out into the garden, watch the sun go down and reflect on your time spent in the Lakes.
Dining
Breakfast at the Westbourne brings a wide choice consisting of cereals, fruit juices, fresh fruits and yoghurts. Followed by a delicious Full English Breakfast using locally produced sausages, eggs and bacon.

Lighter breakfasts of scrambled, boiled and poached eggs are always available.

Special diets are happily catered for with prior notice, ie vegetarian, vegan, gluten/wheat free, Lactose intolerant or low fat diets.

much you love them. We can arrange for flowers, champagne, chocolates or even a cake to be in the room on their arrival.

We can also recommend and book one of the many excellent restaurants in the village and we know the good ones!!

The Lake District has many beautiful aspects. Here are a few ideas to see what is on offer by incorporating a little exercise at the same time.

Ideally situated just off the Dales Way, the Westbourne can be a base for many of the small walks to do in and around Windermere and Bowness.

We have laminated maps of walks to lend out to our guests all easy to moderate walking and ranging from 2 to 6 miles. The picturesque Biskey Howe View Point can be reached within 5 minutes as Westbourne sits just beneath it. Here you can overlook virtually all of Lake Windermere and take in the surrounding mountains, simply breathtaking!
