The Tobermory Hotel, Isle Of Mull

Once a row of fishermen's cottages, these 300year old buildings, set on the waterfront of picturesque Tobermory Bay, now house a delightful, family run hotel. Owners, Ian and Andi Stevens, have created the kind of place that draws back guests time and time again. Relaxed and informal, "the kind of place you can kick off your shoes," the hotel offers efficient, friendly service. The staff team are long established and recruited from the island and are only too happy to share their local expertise.

Star of the team is Head Chef, Helen Swinbanks, born and bred on the island and who uses her extensive knowledge of local produce and natural flair to create brilliant and original dishes. Tobermory is the ideal centre for exploring Mull and the Tobermory Hotel is the ideal place to return to in the evening and relax.

Converted from fishermen's cottages none of our bedrooms are palatial but are quirky and individualistic, ranging from a snug little single overlooking the cliff garden at the back of the hotel to a good sized family room with sea views. Some have window seats where you can sit and gaze over the bay, watching boats, wild life and sky scapes; others are cosy with coved ceilings. All are comfortably furnished and en suite (with the exception of one twin with private bathroom). There are a selection of twins, doubles and larger doubles with king sized beds. One twin is on the ground floor and suitable for wheelchair access. There is also a single on the ground floor.

Widely recognised as offering the best food on the Island the Water's Edge Restaurant has come a long way from it's roots in the Cosy Cafe, the local teen hang out of the 1960's. Chef Helen Swinbanks and her team offer superb food, locally sourced - you could be eating langoustines straight off the boat or fish caught that day by chef herself. Enjoy a full Scottish or Continental Breakfast or try our famous poached Mull smoked haddock.
