The Oast Barn
The Oast Barn became a house in its own right in the 1950's. Previously it was the grooms' cottages, a coach house and stables which was part of a large house and estate known as The Oast House which was owned by the Doulton (pottery) family. Up until the eighteenth century part of it was a public house called 'The Hope and Despair' and some of the roof struts are obviously Elizabethan.

The house is set side on to the road with its own gated car parkingand just over an acre of grounds down to a river which feeds into the Thames. Ducks, swans, and a heron are regularly to be seen and in summer house martins nest on the eaves of the house.Organic fruits and vegetables are grown in the grounds some of which are used for breakfast in summer. Meats are provided by a local farm which rears its own produce and we offer as few preservatives in our food as possible. A range of organic home made preserves and breads are provided for breakfast together with a choice of main dishes.

Two double rooms are offered. A bath/shower room is shared between the rooms. One room has a king sized bed and has an attached but separate single room providing a family suite or is available for two or three single persons. These rooms have their own w.c. with wash basin. All guest rooms are reached by a separate staircase to the remainder of the house. All rooms have comfortable beds with firm mattresses, colour televisions, central heating or electric fans in Summer, hairdryers and tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast is served in a beamed 30' room with open fireplace or when warm enough on our large patio overlooking the grounds and river.

TARIFF:
Single occupation from £45 £50 (not available in summer months)
Double rooms (for 2 persons) from £50 to £60
Suite (double plus attached single) from £75 to £80

Note: There are two doors between the double and single room when used as a suite. Access to the king is through the single room. All guests areas are non smoking. Guest are welcome to smoke in the grounds.

The above prices include a full choice of breakfast. We regret that we are unable to accept small children - under 12 years old.

DIRECTIONS:

From the M25:Junction 13 Staines turnoff. When leaving the motorway the slip road joins the A30 feeding in from the left. Go to the left hand side of this. At the roundabout take the first left signposted to Staines. Next roundabout take the B376 to Wraybury. Follow this road for about 2 miles. You will see a lake on your right for almost the entire distance. After a 30mph sign with a red marker on the road go round a slight right hand bend. The next left turn is Oast House Close. Next to that is a fence, a bus shelter and The Oast Barn entrance via black wrought iron gates. The gates are usually kept shut as we have dogs which might otherwise run into the road. However the dogs are kept in a part of the house away from visitors and so should not perturb you!

From M25 North: Junction 14. 3rd exit at Roundabout to Poyle, Horton. Over next roundabout 1st left to Coppermill Road through village past Perseverance Pub on right, past right turn then to Windsor Cream House on right just past Wraysbury News.

From Staines Bridge: Take the road to Wraysbury immediately after the bridge if approaching from Chertsey/Thorpe or prior to the bridge if coming from Staines Town. Continue straight passing under the M25 bridge, over the roundabout and on to Wraysbury village. Directions then are the same as from the M25.

From Windsor: Take the road to Datchet. Turn left into Datchet across the railway crossing, right at the mini roundabout, straight across the next mini roundabout and onto the next mini roundabout. Turn right to B376 to Wraysbury and follow the road to a T junction. Turn right towards Staines and we are about 30 yards down on the right hand side just past Wraysbury News and a row of cottages

From the M4: Junction 5 then follow the B376 to Wraysbury from Datchet.

The Oast Barn is absolutely fabulous. It is amazingly pittoresk and the people are so friendly! It is so authentic and cosy that you'd wish to live there. Sylvia and her crew are lovely, the nearby pub and its locals are fab. This was our first time but certainly not our last. If you appreciate the little precious things in life this is the place to go.
