The Horse and Farrier Inn
Welcome to the Horse & Farrier, a 5 star, pet friendly Inn which has enjoyed an idyllic location in the centre of the picturesque village of Threlkeld, just 4 miles east of Keswick in Cumbria, for over 300 years.

Built in 1688 and situated beneath Blencathra, with stunning views looking over towards the Helvellyn Range, this traditional Lakeland Inn offers a warm Cumbrian Welcome to all its customers.

Mellow Lakeland stone, traditional architecture and such a peaceful setting make the Horse & Farrier a perfect place to enjoy a quiet pint, delicious food or a short break.

Our restaurant is well known locally for the quality and imagination of its food and our bar serves some of the best Jennings real ales in the Lake District. Together with our well-appointed en-suite bed & breakfast accommodation, this really is a special place to spend some time.

The accomodation, the food and the selection of ales in the inn was good. The cottage offered as alternative accommodation seemed damp.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this delightful and friendly establishment during a Sea to Sea cycle ride. The food, welcome and accommodation was very good indeed and any of the six would happly book again. It was a chilly night and the bedrooms might have benefitted from more heating.

My friends and I stayed at the Horse and Farrier for my birthday in 2007 and enjoyed it so much we decided to come back this year. The staff are all lovely and extremely accommodating. Food is great, restaurant and bar always feels warm and cosy and the rooms are comfortable. Only problem encountered was with the showers in both of our rooms not working too well. Only thing left to do is offer our thanks for another great break.
