The Greengate
Greengate is an ideal place to stay if luxury accomodation is a priority. Once the home of Glasgow Girl Jessie M King and E A Taylor, the house is of great interest to people visiting the area.

Greengate is situated in the coastal Artists' Town of Kirkcudbright, Dumfries and Galloway, SW Scotland. DG6 4JX.

This beautiful fishing town has a friendly community and various facilities including art galleries, a historic castle, wildlife park, swimming pool and golf course.

There is an excellent choice of places to eat and drink. The town is also famous for being used as a location for scenes of the cult film "The Wicker Man" and as a setting for the novel "Five Red Herrings" which was written by the author Dorothy L. Sayers.

Had three very enjoyable nights at The Greengate. You get 3 good-size rooms to yourself (bedroom, sittingroom, bathroom) and you’re the only guests. The sittingroom has all kinds of useful books and information on the area and on the artist Jessie King who lived there. Its an artsy environment, and Colin shared knowledge of art, birding (loan of binoculars) and the area with us. Also, they give you the fastest wifi connection.
