The Blazing Donkey Country Hotel
An individual privately owned and run country hotel and restaurant, just a few minutes from Sandwich & Deal, with Dover and cross channel services within 10 minutes drive.

Accoladed English cuisine. Picture-postcard gardens and award winning Samphire Restaurant. Golf packages offered featuring Princes Championship Links, Royal St. Georges and Royal Cinque Ports.

A rare quality emphasised by truly first class guest comforts, with a understated style of traditional English elegance is what you may expect of the guest rooms each offering high speed wireless internet at no cost.

Dining is a feast of variety; while locally landed fish is a speciality, a wide selection of international and local cuisine is offered in the acclaimed restaurant. Pre dinner drinks are hosted in the bar lounge where open fires blaze in the Winter. And in the warmer Summer months guests can benefit from views of the impressive lawns and gardens from the terrace while enjoying their favourite meal or drink.

Personally run by owners, Richard & Sherry Martin, The Blazing Donkey is a wonderfully versatile hotel, ideal for weddings, romantic breaks, business travel, and of course holidays. It's also a ideal base for touring golfers attracted by the Kent coast's abundance of quality golf courses, including world famous Royal St Georges, host golf club to the 2011 British Open.

The Blazing Donkey's award winning guest rooms are set around a pretty stabled courtyard offering private access and secure parking to guests. Superb views of the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed from all rooms. Four Poster Rooms are offered in addition to standard double occupancy rooms.

After booking a room two months prior, we decided to check our reservation only two nights before our arrival and booked into the restaurant at the same time. On arrival we were told by the reception that there was no booking in our name.'It must have been Richard the owner, he never writes anything down, it happens all of the time'. After a phone call to the manager she said we have a room for you but it is a little small. On inspectionit was disgusting, the window was falling out the room had not seen a decorater in ten years or more. When I spoke to the manager he said there is nothing i can do. The owner was such a coward he would not even speak to me. Tou should be ashamed of yourselves. Go and look at room 20 you morons.

The Blazing Donkey is definitely the place to go if you have dogs and want to feel welcome, and also if you enjoy superb food. We were very warmly welcomed and treated throughout our stay by friendly staff who really had time for you. Usually as dog owners we have felt that we are merely tolerated at most dog friendly venues, but not at the Blazing Donkey! We not only enjoyed breakfast, but also dinner in their superb top class restaurant. We certainly recommend the Blazing Donkey to everyone.
