The Bell Inn
The Bell Inn, Stilton, historically an important stop on the Great North Road between London and York, is one of the finest surviving examples of a 17th century Coach House in the country.

Renowned as the birthplace of Stilton Cheese and situated in the village of Stilton, The Bell has stood on its present site since 1500, though earlier incarnations, (as long ago as 1437) have been recorded.
The current buildings date from 1642.

Now a celebrated restaurant, bistro, village bar, 3* hotel, conference and wedding venue and licenced for wedding ceremonies, The Bell Inn at Stilton welcomes customers old and new.

We have 22 en-suite bedrooms including 2 four posters and several with jacuzzi baths. All have recently been refurbished and offer a pleasing, comfortable setting for your visit.

We also have 3 ground floor rooms which have been designed specifically with our less mobile guests in mind offering easy access and user friendly facilities.

Each bedroom at the inn has been individually furnished in keeping with the style of this charming building. All bedrooms feature colour television with full channel reception, including Sky Channels - (excluding Garden rooms), direct dial telephone system, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms.

We only stayed the one night but thought the hotel was lovely, The meal in the bar was very good and the roaring fire made it feel very cosy. I ordered an early breakfast in my room which was excellent. The only thing I think worth mentioning is that the heating was not on in our room when we arrived and it felt a bit chilly, which was not very welcoming. A phone call to reception soon rectified this.

Recommend the Bell for food and excellent standard of accommodation, all rooms recently refurbished to a high standard. The dining room was lit by candlelight, food was excellent and staff very attentive. Could not fault it in anyway and will definately return.
