A former dower house to the Earl of Ilchester and now a beautiful country house hotel with twenty-four individually designed bedrooms providing our guests with both comfort and the feeling of home from home.

Within easy reach is the rugged Dorset coast along with the many grand and stately homes such as Athelhampton and Montacute with a Medieval Castle at Sherborne nearby.
There are miles of public footpaths and plenty of quiet country lanes to explore (Wellingtons, cycles, and picnics available from the hotel), and a 16th-century coaching inn, The Acorn Inn that features in Tess of the d'Urbervilles. Many footpaths take you into the neighbouring 9,000-acre Melbury Estate.
