Seatoller House, Borrowdale

Welcome to the Seatoller House webpage. Situated at the head of the Borrowdale Valley, described by Wainwright as ‘the fairest valley of the Lake District’, Seatoller House holds an envious position. Situated in one acre of grounds at the foot of Honister Pass, providing immediate access to Scafell, Great Gable and Dale Head to name but a few. With a history dating back over three hundred years, and trading as a Guest house for over a century it has maintained its charm to the current day.

Without the modern intrusions of televisions and radios, our home from home with its cosy cottage style bedrooms, wood panelled sitting room, beamed ceilings, slate floors and of course an open fire provide a peaceful and relaxing environment with a genuine, warm and friendly service.

Dining at Seatoller House is a unique experience. Guests return year after year to the informal atmosphere and camaraderie of the evening dinner, served communally at two purpose built oak tables.

Our daily changing four course menu uses the very best of local fresh produce, meat from local farms is of the highest quality and provided by our Local butcher, Saddleback Foods, and a selection of our cheeses are handmade in Cumbria. Vegetarians are always well catered for and we have developed a reputation for providing imaginative meals. During the season we use fruit and herbs from our own garden

Breakfast always follows a good nights sleep at Seatoller House and this is a relaxed affair with fresh fruit and homemade preserves. A hearty full Cumbrian breakfast includes free range eggs, Saddleback Foods provide us with fresh local Bacon & Cumberland sausage.
