Rosehill House Hotel
When the UK, and in particular Lancashire was a dominant force in cotton manufacture, Adam Dugdale, a wealthy cotton mill owner, built Rosehill House in Burnley in 1856. The mansion would have provided a luxury setting overlooking the valley in which Burnley is located. The mansion went through several changes of ownership, including the mayor of Burnley and also the home guard during the Second World War.

Rosehill House was converted to a hotel in 1963. Many of the elaborate features of the original architecture have been retained, which illustrate the luxury that some of the ancestors were accustomed to. The ornate ceilings, for example were installed by Italian craftsmen who travelled to the UK during the 1800's to provide the luxury touches to historic houses and this is one of the few examples that remains in Lancashire or indeed the UK.

Rosehill House enjoys an enviable reputation for its luxury style and welcoming atmosphere, its location, within quiet suburb of Burnley provides the ideal starting point for touring Lancashire and the surrounding counties, the ideal place to relax, Rosehill House will take you back to a bygone era and caters for all budgets, from standard to luxury hotel status.

The Rosehill House welcome makes you feel as though you are living in your own country house, with all the facilities that implies. The Hotel features 34, individually designed bedrooms.

Each room has a character of its own and whether staying in the main house or the splendidly restored coach house, there are fine antiques, exquisite soft furnishings and yet all the modern day facilities that you would expect from a first class family run country house hotel. The rooms and suites combine today's comforts with an opportunity to feel the history that the rooms have experienced.

Friendly staff. Small single room. Very hard bed. No easy chair. Shower only, no bath. Drains smelled badly, toilet seat detached from fittings. Reported: Seat repaired, but drain smell dispersed by adding chemical to toilet. Cooked breakfast brought too soon on first morning. Still eating cereal. Kept warm -then greasy. O.K on second morning. Good Aussie house red by glass. Lovely well preserved original interior dating back to 1856

My sister and I stayed at Rosehill to visit relatives in Burnley. The only reason for not booking on the internet was because I could only get a twin bedded room by contacting the hotel direct. We had an excellent stay and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The food was very good - best breakfasts I've had in a long time and the one evening meal we had was of a high standard. Very good value and we will return some time.
