Rook Residence, Halifax

Welcome to Rook Residence, a comfortable Four Star Rated home away from home.
The house was build approximately 200 years ago, originally as two semi detached ‘one up one down’ mine workers cottages. Since 2000 the house has been extended and converted into it's present B&B status.

GUEST SERVICES:
On the first floor there are two double rooms which share a large bathroom, there is also a twin room with en-suite shower/toilet, all rooms can be let as single rooms. One double room is large enough for an extra single bed if required. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, central heating, Digital freeview television, Hair Dryer, Radio alarm clock and wash basin. Ironing Board and Iron are available on request.

Continental or traditional English cooked breakfast is served in the dining room between 7.00 and 8.30 AM.

The Dining Room also has a small kitchen area equiped with a Microwave Cooker for guest use.

Check in time is between 4.30 and 10.30 PM and check out time is 10.00 AM unless pre-arranged

We prefer payment on arrival by either cash or cheque with bankers card.
For long term future reservations we require a 50% non-refundable deposit.

DIRECTIONS:
Flights
Nearest airport is Leeds/Bradford approximately 30 minute local drive. Manchester airport is 50 minute drive mainly motorway (M62).

Trains
Nearest train station is Halifax next is Bradford and then Leeds.

Disembark at Shelf Bridle Stile, cross the road and go through the snicket, take a left on Shelf Hall Lane and you will see Rook Residence on your left

By car
Leave the M62 at junction 26 and follow the signs onto the M606 (short motorway).

Follow the M606 for approx 2 mile until you reach the roundabout, stay left (do not carry on onto Bradford ring road). Take the second exit off the roundabout onto Rooley Avenue dual carriageway A6036.

Continue to the next roundabout (approx 0.6 mile) and take the 3rd exit onto Halifax Road A6036

Continue along Halifax Road for 2.3 mile, at this point there is a junction that forks off to the right onto Shelf Hall Lane, you will have just passed the INTERFACE carpet factory before reaching this junction.

Continue along Shelf Hall Lane for 350 yards and you will find us on the left hand side directly opposite Broad Ings Way.

Walking
We are on the cross road of the Calderdale Way and the Bronte Route.

LOCAL AMENITIES:
Food and Drink
We are situated between The Duke of York and Bottomleys Arms pubs (3 minute walk either way) both serve exellent evening meals. A little further still is The Duke William pub which besides good food also has novel entertainment on certain nights.
There are several Indian, Italian and Chinese take aways who deliver and meals may be eaten in the dining room at Rook Residence.

Park
Shelf Hall Park has tennis courts, a bowling green and mini golf course and a woodland walk

Horse Riding
Coley Equestrian centre and Fly Laithe Stables are in walking distance and the riding routes are beautiful.

Sport
Richard Dunn Sport Centre at Odsal Top opposite the Bradford Bulls Rugby stadium has a very nice swimming pool, Squash courts and fitness centre.
