The Riviera is located on Plymouth Hoe and offers efficiency and convenience. We are a 3 star, family run, non-smoking establishment where you can relax in a comfortable homely atmosphere. The accommodation is arranged over 3 floors, with one elegant internal staircase leading to all our bedrooms. Please note that there is no lift. Built circa 1885, the Riviera retains many of it original Victorian features typical of the period.
The ground floor houses the informal bar and TV lounge with a friendly and homely atmosphere which makes an excellent place to meet and relax after a hard day of sightseeing or business meetings.
Just to the right of the Bar and Lounge is the breakfast area with seating for 24 people. All breakfasts are freshly cooked at the time of ordering with the emphasis on a homely atmosphere.

Each bedroom has a Freeview colour television, a radio/alarm clock and a hair-drier. Tea/coffee-making facilities are also provided.
We now offer WiFi and have an Internet PC for guests to use for a nominal charge.

From the A38 take the Plymouth exit. Follow signs into Plymouth City Centre. Eventually you will enter a one way system. As you leave the one way system there is a blue footbridge just before a roundabout. At the roundabout turn left. At the second set of traffic lights there is an Esso garage. take the road on the left (Bretonside).Keep on this road until you come to a set of traffic lights with a pub on the left hand corner called "The Walrus". At "The Walrus" turn left and go straight over the crossroads. We are 50 metres on the right hand side.

Conveniently situated only a few steps from the famous Plymouth Hoe, close to the site where Sir Frances Drake played and finished his game of bowls prior to defeating the approaching Spanish Armada in 1588.
Plymouth's historical Barbican from where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail in search of the New World in 1620, is only five minutes walk from the Riviera. It is also situated in a good trading position within five minutes walk of the main shopping Centre and one minute's drive from the city's main Brittany and Spanish ferry port. It is also within walking distance of the Theatre Royal, and the Plymouth Pavilions, which is the major entertainment and conference venue of the city. The National Marine Aquarium, which opened in 1998 is also close at hand
