Staff friendly. Room serviced and clean. Matress needs updating, very soft, both of us rolling towards the middle. Restaurant pretty good. Partner ordered sugar cured ham. Never order again! Otherwise food quite good quality.

Since the hotel was originally a detached private dwelling, it does have a good, homey kind of atmosphere, yet one ought to beware that the stairs wind somewhat and there are fire doors (as required by regulations) that mean that one may have to be strong physically to move heavy luggage up and down. The room I was in was comfortable and spacious for my purposes, although I can only wonder why the management could not have inserted shower fittings above the bath. Many travellers nowadays have neither the time nor patience for taking baths! I also felt that the Bay Tree Restaurant, which is open to non-guests, is somewhat pricey and only dishes catering to those with high tastes and fat wallets seemed to be on offer. Retirees seemed to be the biggest clientele during the evening I had my meal! Still, the management did allow me to leave my luggage in the office for a few hours whilst I popped into Birkenhead, my old home town! Still, all things considered, I would probably stay there ag

No probems - everything was pretty good. A few points (since you ask) (1) Cooked breakfast a bit greasy. (2) The on-line website I used for your booking said nothing about paying for pets and nor did your receptionist who answered the phone when I phoned to confirm that pets could stay. I don't object to the GBP 5 but I imagine other people might if not informed (I know it does appear on your actual web-site but I was not routed to it when I booked). (3) Also, we travel alot the world over and are not used to these UK hotels which are of a good standard but don't have aircon!! We sweated the night away. I think you will soon have to start consider introducing aircons as most international travellers expect this as a minimum requirement like a bathroom-en-suite. Otherwise everything was clean and the staff were pleasant and the hotel has a nice atmosphere!
