Riggsacre has the best Tourist Board rating of 5 Stars, Gold Award and is recommended by “Which?” (Editor's top 20 B+B 2005). It is a substantial detached property situated in a peaceful lane in one of the nicest areas of Corbridge yet only a 3 minute walk from the centre of the village. It has 2 luxurious en-suite bedrooms each with its own sitting area. Both have Kingsize beds, one being a 4-Poster and the other a Sleigh bed. There is private parking within the grounds. Rates from £38 per person per night including full English breakfast. Our minimum booking is 2 nights and we regret we cannot take children or pets.

CORBRIDGE

Corbridge is a lovely old unspoilt stone built village. With its church dating from the 7th century it is just off the picturesque A68 road and a convenient break between York and Edinburgh. It is an ideal base from which to explore Northumberland and Hadrian's Wall country, yet is only 20 minutes from Newcastle. There are many speciality shops and some excellent restaurants and pubs. There is also a large Roman fort, Corstopitum, on the outskirts of the village.

NORTHUMBERLAND

Northumberland is probably the least known, most beautiful, wild county in England. It has more castles than any other (25), ranging from the dramatic Bamburgh Castle on the shoreline of the rugged east coast to the massive Alnwick Castle, home to the Dukes of Northumberland for 600 years, where scenes from Harry Potter were filmed. There is also the stunning Arts and Crafts Cragside House with a 30 acre Rhododendron garden set in the moors of the Northumberland National Park. All attractions are easily reached from Corbridge, which makes it a wonderful centre for exploring Northumberland.

HADRIAN'S WALL

Built by the Romans approximately 2000 years ago as the most Northern boundary of their empire and stretching 80 miles from coast to coast through Northumberland and Cumbria, this remarkable monument is designated a World Heritage Site. With over 20 Roman forts and museums that are easily reached by car or the special bus service, you will see wonderful countryside, views of Scotland and fascinating Roman artifacts including items of clothing and original parchment letters excavated at Vindolanda.
