Situated in our own grounds within the delightful village of Portpatrick, near Stranraer in Dumfries & Galloway, South West Scotland, Rickwood House combines quality with comfort and good food with a warm welcome.

Rickwood House is situated quietly, near Portptatrick Golf Course, overlooking the village and the Irish Sea yet only a few minutes walk from the centre of Portpartick. The house known today as Rickwood House Hotel was built in Edwardian times for the factor of the local Dunskey Estate and was known as The Factors House. In 1959, the house changed hands and became the Rickwood House Hotel.

Our house has been modernised to a high standard and has six stylish bedrooms. All have en-suite showers, some have baths also. All rooms have controllable heating, tea/coffee facilities and DVD players. Two of our rooms are on the ground floor.

We have a conservatory which is used as a lounge for our guests. You are welcome to relax here at any time of day either with a drink or just to enjoy the view. We have a large garden with seating areas for your comfort.
Our master bedroom has been completely refurbised to a luxurious standard and is named the “Factors Suite” – to provide that extra touch of luxury. Please see our rooms & prices page for full details. We also have a ground floor twin bedded room upgraded to a similar standard as The Factors Suite.
For three years now we have been ranked No1 B&B or hotel in Portpatrick, South West Scotland by TripAdvisor.

I have been coming on holiday to Portpatrick since I was 7. Nice to stay in a B&B for luxury instead of camping. Excellent place!! We will be back. 10/10

Nearby Attractions:

Portpatrick is an ideal base for touring South West Scotland.

We are only 40 mins away from the Mull of Galloway, the most southerly point in Scotland. Mull of Galloway has views to Galloway, Cumbria, Isle of Man and Ireland! It has a unique cafe with a grass roof perched right on the cliff top and an RSPB sactuary where colonies of gannets and possibly puffins can be seen.Dolphinscan sometimes be seen here as well. You can also climb the lighthouse tower at weekends

We have probably more gardens to visit nearby than in anywhere else in Scotland - at least 7 within a half hours drive!

We are almost next door to one of Scotland`s top 100 Golf Courses as is Stranaer Golf Course and we can offer discounted fees at both.

There are lovely cliff walks in both directions from Potpatrick either to the magnificent ruins of Dunskey Castle or north along the Southern Upland Way to Killantringan Lighthouse or even as far as Stranraer.
