Priors Mead Bed and Breakfast
Priors Mead Bed and Breakfast which has been in the family for 40 years is an enchanting Edwardian home set in large secluded gardens with huge weeping willow trees and located in a peaceful tree lined road. Guests are given a warm welcome not only from Peter and Fizz the owners, but also from Ben and Barney their friendly labradors. A home from home where guests can relax in the garden or enjoy a game of croquet. Fans of John Cleese will be interested to know that Priors Mead was one of the homes that John lived in during the war.

All the attractive spacious bedrooms have garden views and are very well equipped with remote controlled TVs, king-size beds, en suite or with private facilities. In the elegant dining room there is also a baby grand piano which guests are welcome to play. Apart from one large family table, there are two other individual tables for couples.

Guests can leave their cars in the drive and walk to town along the beach to find the pubs and restaurants or alternatively there are lots of country pubs nearby.

Burnham-on-Sea is a small Victorian seaside resort which has wonderful sands and sunsets and is renowned for the rise and fall of the tide - the second greatest in the world. Burnham has a championship Golf Course and is the centre for many other Golf Clubs.

One of the famous Somerset carnivals take place in the town in November. An additional attraction for the area is Tynesfield which is the exciting new National Trust Property.

The local area is flat which is ideal for walking and jogging and other facilities include tennis, fishing and horseriding.

An easy 5 minute drive from the M5, Burnham is an excellent touring base for Bath, Bristol, Cheddar, Wells, Glastonbury, Taunton, the Mendip and Quantock Hills. The M5 is in a good position for travelling to Devon, Cornwall, the Cotswolds and South Wales.

I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone inteested. The room was delightful and many extras were provided. The service was excellent, including a magnificent full breakfast. All ropms included either ensuite or very private bathroom. The house and garden setting was beautiful. All at a very reasonable price. One of the best of the many we have stayed in.
