New Inn Clapham, Settle

Set in beautiful Yorkshire Dales the New Inn Hotel has been providing accommodation for the traveller since 1776 and has been our home since 1987, during which time we have lovingly and carefully refurbished with a fine blend of old and new to retain the characteristics of this eighteenth century coaching inn where you will experience a warm and friendly welcome.

In the Main Bar can be seen a collection of caving cartoons by Jim Eyre one of the local early cave explorers and author of several books including "It's only a Game" and "The Game goes on". Both of which are available from the hotel.

There are also various pictures relating to Gaping Ghyll. The New Inn is set in the magnificent Yorkshire Dales National Park with its dramatic peaks, delightful dales, rivers, waterfalls and caves and situated in the centre of the charming village of Clapham.

Over thousands of years water erosion through the limestone has formed many amazing sights, such as Ingleborough Cave, which is festooned with stalactites and stalagmites, or Gaping Ghyll the most dramatic of North Yorkshire's pot holes where water hurtles down in a single jet over 365ft to the floor.

The New Inn hotel is a superb example of a traditional Yorkshire Dales Hotel. All bedrooms having full central heating, their own bathrooms, colour televisions, telephones, hair dryers, tea and coffee trays and ample writing space - all designed to make your stay "home from home".
