MORESBY HALL is a Grade I listed building of architectural and historical interest, circa 1620. Near Whitehaven, with a semi-rural location, it is a perfect base from which to explore the Western Lake District. Whitehaven has over 250 losted buildings and a newly renovated marina and harbour. As one of the oldest residences in Cumbria, there is a charming country house and family home atmosphere. Perfect for guests not wishing to stay in modern or impersonal hotel accommodation.
The owners (Jane & David Saxon) welcome both business and tourist guests. We are delighted to be awarded a 5 star and a coveted GOLD Award grading by the Visit Britain inspector. We also the winner of The Copeland Pride award for accommodation and The Copeland Pride award for dining.
There are six beautifully appointed en-suite rooms in the Hall, including two sumptuous 7'0 x 7'0 four poster rooms with either a Jacuzzi bath and TILEVISION colour TV en-suite or hydromassage power shower / sauna en-suite. Full descriptions and photos are on our website.
Moresby Hall is a licensed venue for small civil marriage and partnership ceremonies. We can provide exclusive use of the Hall for your special day (for up to 40 guests) with the personal attention of the owners to co-ordinate your ceremony and reception.
In addition, the stunning FLETCHER suite is available for corporate use for conferences, meetings, training sessions with private dining for attendees.
COOKERY DEMONSTRATIONS are offered each month in our beautiful maple wood kitchen. The warm ambience and avant garde lighting make this a great area for 8 people to watch Jane cook a starter, main course, pudding, canapes and an interesting vegetable dish. The day includes all refreshments, receipes, lunch and a gift from £50 - £70 pp. Please see our website for details.
All meals are freshly prepared using predominately free range / organic Cumbrian produce, sourced locally. We are happy to assist with any special dietary requirements.
