Moorlands, where countryside and comfort combine, set in six acres of gardens, within the Exmoor National Park. A detached late 19th century country house, surrounded by rolling countryside, and less than two miles from the spectacular North Devon coast.. Originally built to provide shelter for travellers on the old Lynton to Barnstaple light railway (now re-open as a tourist attraction) it is now an ideal base from which to explore the many places of natural beauty and historic interest to be found close by.
The house is very comfortable and quiet with single, double or family suite accommodation, all en-suite with bath or shower, fully centrally heated with colour TV and beverage making facilities in all rooms.
Where countryside and comfort combine, Moorlands has a resident’s bar / dinning room where we serve a hearty full English breakfast and delicious home cooked evening meals adjacent is our lounge with real fire , where guests can relax with their coffee and enjoy views of the gardens
Breakfasts are prepared fresh to order, in order to keep our costs to a minimum evening meals need to be boooked in advance, both can be enjoyed in our delightful licensed dining room with the added comfort of an open log fire during the winter months.
Through the gardens you can stroll along the old porters path through the old gateway and arrive on the northern platform of the Woody Bay Station. This spectacular narrow guage railway ia a sight to behold both for the enthusiast and the casual visitor. Take a look at the newly restored station building, take a tour of the railway shed, marvel at the quality of the rolling stock and then take a short ride through some of the most spectacular countryside on any narrow gauge railway.
The local area hosts a variety of entertainment. Lynton and Lynmouth are within four miles and the beautiful resorts of Croyde and Woolacombe are within a short drive. Horse riding, fishing, both sea and river, are available close by, or just walk and enjoy the local countryside or the coastal paths of North Devon.
