Set in the delightful conservation area just north of Ipswich town centre & a stones throw away from the award winning Christchurch park. Melverley Guest House offers a homely environment perfect for relaxing whether your stay is for business or pleasure. Built in 1899 Melverley is a large Victorian property full of period features sympathetically decorated in keeping with it's Victorian past, but with modern comfort that you would expect from a 4star silver award B&B.

With constable country on the doorstep, the timbered town of Lavenham, historical Bury St Edmunds and the attractive seaside towns of Aldeburgh, Southwold and Dunwich, Ipswich makes for a perfect short break destination. We are ideally situated to use as a base to explore Suffolk. There are numerous Nature reserves, picnic sites, Historical buildings and sites, coastal walks or country heaths. Why not visit some stately homes, museums or a medieval village.
Comfortable single, twin, double and large doubles with super king size beds enable us to cater for any individual staying on business for the week, or for those on leisure weekend breaks.
We offer a wide choice for breakfast cooked to order using locally soured and home grown produce when available/in season.
We provide free off road parking.
In the interest of all of our guests - we operate a strict no smoking policy.

Approach Ipswich via A12 until you reach a large roundabout (Toys R Us & Tesco). Go straight over this roundabout and the next. You are then on the A1214. Go straight over the traffic lights (hotel on your left). Straight on at two more sets of lights. Straight over the major crossroad junction controlled by traffic lights keeping in the left hand lane. At second set of traffic lights turn left into Yarmouth Road. Continue over another set of lights and then straight over a double mini-roundabout , you are then on Valley Road. Continue up Valley road hill and over the traffic lights, continue straight over the first roundabout. At the second roundabout - turn right (third exit), into Tuddenham Road and continue for half a mile towards town centre, Melverley Guest House is on your left hand side, number 62.
Directions from Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds (A14)
Follow the A14 and take the exit signed "Ipswich North & West" A1156 Ipswich North. The slip road brings you out opposite Asda superstore. At the roundabout take the first exit, Bury Road. Continue 100 meters then straight over the next roundabout, continuing on the A1156 Norwich Road for about two miles until the double mini-roundabouts. Turn left, first exit , you are then on Valley Road. Continue up Valley road hill and over the traffic lights, continue straight over the first roundabout. At the second roundabout - turn right (third exit) into Tuddenham Road and continue for half a mile towards town centre, Melverley Guest House is on your left hand side number 62.
