Meadow Bank, Cockermouth

Meadow Bank is situated in the picturesque village of Lorton which is 8 miles from Keswick and 4 miles from the lovely market town of Cockermouth and is a short drive to Buttermere, Crummockwater, Loweswater and Derwentwater, less well known than Windermere, but equally as beautiful.

Meadow Bank is a small friendly family run Guest House where a really warm welcome awaits you. Breakfast is served in the Dining room where you are able to take in the lovely view of Kirkfell beyond. Squirrels and birds feed in the garden for guests to enjoy.

There is ample parking at the front of the house. The accommodation comprises: 1 Twin bedded room with very spacious en-suite facilities and 1 double bedroom with private bathroom with bath and shower. The rooms each have tea/coffee facilities, radios for guests to listen to. A spacious and comfortable Living Room is downstairs which has a colour TV and cosy log fire.

Drying facilities and secure bike storage are available for walkers and cyclists. Packed lunches are available on request. There are lots of walks around the village, Buttermere and Crummockwater which are a short drive away. The C to C cycle route travels through the village and it is also a great area for cycling. It is a very quiet peaceful village that hosts a shop, post office and a local pub serving delicious bar food.

There are many historic connections in the nearby towns of Cockermouth, Keswick and Grasmere which are well worth a visit. A full English breakfast is served between 8.00 and 9.00 a.m. Any special dietary requirements I will try to cater for.
