Lilac Cottage is in the Great Glen in the Highlands of Scotland - 15 miles from Fort William and 11 miles from Loch Ness. We are nestled snugly in the valley with Loch Oich to the north and Loch Lochy to the south. Lilac Cottage is a small traditional cottage amongst beautiful scenery. Set between two mountains, pine trees grow nearly up to the top of the east side and the west is covered in bracken and heather (and sheep). We have 3 bedrooms with wash-hand Tea/Coffee making facilities. Residents lounge with color TV & video with a good selection of videos. 1 shared bathroom with shower. Double glazed & central heating throughout.
Just a few minutes walk from us is a delightful path through the woods to the Loch Gates at Laggan where you can watch the boats enter Loch Lochy. To the north the path takes you to the swing bridge where the boats enter loch Oich, from thence down the canal and into Fort Augustus. This path can be cycled as well as walked. In fact the Great Glen Cycle Route is only ten minutes away by bike.
There is also the old railway track just a minute from us where you can walk or cycle. There are some lovely walks through the pine forest, over the hill top and into the next valley (the photo above is taken from one of the paths). So, north, south, east and west you have lovely walking and cycle paths. You will be assured of warm welcome. We are Tourist Board graded 3 stars.
