Set within an elegant Victorian town house built in 1870, this 3-star guest house presents itself as the ideal base for you to explore the historic city of York.

Just 10 minutes walk from the City centre and York Racecourse, Hillcrest boasts a beautiful position – backing onto the beautifully landscaped Rowntree Park, consisting of formal gardens and a lake. Beyond is the River Ouse and the delightful riverside walk into town.

Privately-owned and run, you can be assured of a friendly welcome on arrival before you venture out into the city to explore the nearby attractions, such as York Minster, the Railway Museum, the Theatre Royal and much more.

Access to our car park is to the rear of the house. Several spaces are available. There is additional free parking (subject to availability) nearby.

Hotel Policies:

Arrival/Departure Times
For the convenience of incoming guests, we require rooms to be vacated by 11.00am on the day of departure. Later departure times may, however, be possible on request. Earliest arrival time is 1.00 pm (except by prior arrangement) but you are welcome to leave your luggage earlier. Please let us know if you anticipate arriving after 6.30pm otherwise your room may be re-let.
Cancellations policies
In the event of less than 48 hours’ notice of cancellation of your booking we would make every effort to re-let the accommodation. However, we reserve the right to charge the full cost of the booking if the room is not subsequently re-let. We would only cancel your booking if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would attempt to offer you alternative accommodation, however if this was not possible, or unacceptable to you, then we would refund all monies paid by you. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.

Directions:

By car:
From A1 take A64 then A1036, sign posted York West and then follow signs for City Centre. When you pass The Marriott Hotel on the right, take next turning right. Follow Knavesmire Road/Campleshon Road to the end. Go left into Bishopthorpe Road and Hillcrest is half a mile on the right.

By train:
When you arrive at York Railway Station go to the main entrance, turn right and follow Queen Street (over bridge) to the traffic lights. Continue straight over into Nunnery Lane passing a large car park on your left. Continue to the end of Nunnery Lane and turn right into Bishops Gate which then leads on to Bishopthorpe Road. We are on top of the hill on the left just past Southlands Church. The walk should take approximately 15 minutes.
Alternatively take bus No.11 to Bishopthorpe and exit at Bewlay Street.
A taxi fare should be about £4-5.

Good location, just 10min walk to the centre of York. Breakfast was excellent and the service was quick. Bedrooms were very clean, excellent value for money, would recommend this hotel to firends and family and would definately stay at the Hillcrest again.

+ I was treated with the utmost courtesy by all the staff who were very friendly and accommodating - I didn't like having to leave. I would have been happy to have stayed the whole week.

Good location for being able to walk into York, welcoming staff who also helped in where to go and see during our stay. Clean and comfortable room ideal for families. Superb breakfast catering for all tastes a very relaxing stay.

Nearby Attractions:

Behind Hillcrest is Rowntree park with landscaped gardens, a lake and children’s play areas. Beyond is the almost traffic free riverside walk into York City Centre.
