Come to Glenaldor House B&B for a warm Scottish welcome. Providing a Tourist Board 3 Star Quality Assured Bed and Breakfast in Dumfries, Scotland. Family owned and run, accommodation, situated in a centrally located private terrace of tall, elegant houses in a preservation area with private parking, the guesthouse is only 10 minutes walk from the town centre and a few minutes walk from the Dumfries railway station. Good food is available in nearby restaurants.

Dumfries is an ideal centre for short breaks, for golf, shooting and fishing, walking, cycling or horse riding or even just shopping and sightseeing. With such a cultural heritage, being the place where our National Bard, Robert Burns, lived, loved and died. His legacy is historical sites, house, museums, heritage centre, mausoleum and famously, the Globe Inn. Famously too, J.M. Barrie, who wrote Peter Pan etc, lived in the house next door to our Guest House whilst he attended Dumfries Academy.

Visit the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, only 80 miles away, as is Stranraer and the Ireland ferries. Carlisle, Gretna, Annan, Lockerbie and Moffat are a mere 30-45 minutes drive, as is Galloway and its scenic beauty.

We are open all year round except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

I think Glenaldor House in Dumfries is a strong contestant for the Best B&B in Scotland - it's certainly the best I've been to. I only saw the room I stayed in but it was wonderful, superbly clean and comfortable, with all facilities. A very nice breakfast to follow with - still all too unusual - a full vegetarian breakfast offered. Very well done to the owner and staff!

We were planning a family trip (with our 2 1/2 year old) to Dumfries to visit relatives and Glenaldor House was highly recommended to us by friends who had stayed there during a walking trip in the summer. Following this recommendation I looked at the reviews on trip advisor and they certainly had a tall reputation to live up to. I have had to put 'pen to paper' to say that I certainly not disappointed. We spent the weekend at Glenaldor house in their family room and it was in a word - 'superb'! From the moment we parked our car we were well looked after and made to feel very welcome as a family throughout our stay. Our room was warm, welcoming and spacious and the en suite had a large shower cubicle and separate bath. The home made scones in our room were added bonus and were enjoyed by all (especially my two boys - young and old!) Our days got off to a good start with a lovely breakfast (all local produce - grilled not fried), with a wide and varied choice. I have to say it was

A truly delightful stay. Very clean and peaceful with David the owner was always there to help with any requests. I would reccommend the hotel to anyone without reservation.
