This small family run hotel is spotlessly clean and staff provide excellent service at all times. Food is varied, well presented and of the highest quality. This quiet delightful hotel is one that we shall continue to visit. Its green tourist award is very well deserved.

March 2012: Me and my partner came here for an evening meal recently. The food was fantastic! I am Coeliac and I could not believe how well they accomodated my allergy. They had Gluten free bread on stand-by (it was a joy to have!) and they also were able to offer me Gluten free chocolate pudding! A fantastic change from fresh fruit and ice cream-which is usually all I can hope for. The serviec was really friendly and welcoming and the hotel itself is beautiful! We were really very pleased with everything-and it was fantastic value too! TOP MARKS!!! The current chef has come form the tree house in Anwick Castle and I have to say he is simply marvelous!!

Just returned from a two night break at the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel. This is my second visit to the hotel, this time we opted to stay in one of the police houses opposite the main hotel. We were allocated a two bedroomed house, and it couldnt have been better. You can do your own cooking if you choose to do so .We ate in the hotel.Staff and food were both spot on. Try the kippers for breakfast, they are really good!! All in all a nice part of the world ,with good company, and good food, what more do you want?Highly reccomended,i will be back for a third visit .

We live locally but this was the first occasion we visited the hotel for lunch. We did not have particularly high expectations but I am pleased to say they were definitely exceeded. Decor is cosy but traditional although I did notice a few cobswebs in the dining room whilst waitng for the menus. Service was a tad slow considering the dining room was not full but the helpful waiting staff made up for that. However all our food was excellent - good, traditional home cooking. My steak and ale pie was one of the best I have eaten - shortcrust pastry top and bottom and the filling was very meaty. Vegetables were fresh and well presented ( not often seen in Northumberland!)and my husband had hand cut chips with his fried haddock. His starter of smoked salmon and salmon pate with a lime and dill aioli was inventive and excellent although we were surprised that a pate was not accompanied by bread or toast, however this was swiftly brought to him when requested. Home made choclate sponge puddin

We stayed for three nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and were very happy with every aspect of this hotel. Since there were three of us, we had two rooms (a double and a single) and both were very comfortable and spotless. We took a standard double (village view rooms attract a small supplement) but it was still more spacious than we had perhaps expected. Staff were first class right through from telephone booking to restaurant and housekeeping. Food both at dinner and breakfast was first class and we never waited any length of time even during busier periods. The evening menu for DBB customers consists of three starters and three main courses although these change every night and it is also possible to choose from the a la carte menu if one wishes. There is also a good, standard set of sweets. With both a restaurant and grill room as well as two lounges, the hotel is well provided. We would certainly return to a hotel clearly run by people who want things to work properly.

Lovely place and the staff are extremely friendly. Good room. Free guest wifi. Good food but the dining room could do with updating.
