Crockerton House
Reduced rates for October to April, Sunday to Thursday and two nights or more.

Christopher and Enid Richmond welcome you into their beautiful historic home and garden. Originally part of Lord Bath’s Longleat Estate, the listed building dates back to 1669; in 1919 it was purchased by Lord Heytesbury who lived here till 1949. Sympathetic restoration has rejuvenated the property to its earlier splendour as a luxury bed and breakfast.

The house is situated in the Wylye Valley in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty only 10 minutes from Longleat and less than 20 miles of Bath, Salisbury, Stonehenge and Stourhead.

Useful Info:

We have three luxurious guestrooms on the first floor overlooking the gardens. Full of character, each room also meets the needs of today’s traveller with flat screen TV, complimentary wireless broadband, tea, coffee, homemade biscuits , fresh fruit and flowers. Bathrooms are well equipped with large towels, robes and toiletries.

The Heytesbury Suite is named after the 4th Lord Heytesbury who built the north wing including this bedroom. Light and airy with large windows overlooking the front and rear gardens, this room is en suite with bath and has a super king-size double bed (twin beds on request).

The Silk Room recalls Crockerton’s historic silk mill whose owner Isaiah Jupe lived here till 1909. Very spacious with high ceilings, the room overlooks the back garden and lane leading down to the old mill. Facilities include en suite bath and shower with super king-size double bed (twin beds on request).

The Officer’s Room is named after a Major General who once lived in the house. This elegant room has a king-size double bed, adjacent private bathroom with bath and walk-in shower, and separate lavatory.

Enter through the imposing hall into the handsome drawing room. Relax amid family antiques and enjoy magnificent views of the gardens and Southleigh Wood. Afternoon tea is served in the drawing room or garden on the day of arrival.

Later eat out in a local country pub or in-house (must be pre-booked). After a good night’s sleep, saunter downstairs to a delicious breakfast seated at the long table by the ancient inglenook.

We use fresh local produce, organic meat, chicken and eggs, farmhouse cheeses, freshly ground coffee and loose tea. In season, fruit and vegetables from the garden are regularly served. Cooking on an Aga, Enid produces a large range of homemade foods including bread, cakes and jam.

The house is set in one and a half acres of glorious gardens overlooking meadows and forest leading down to the River Wylye. The grounds provide a sanctuary for birds and wildlife with towering coniferous trees, tall hedges, sweeping lawns, herbaceous borders, orchard and kitchen garden.
