Enjoyable stay!! Excellent B & B. Comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast. Also the bus service into York is first class. Bus Stop is <1min from B&B and takes you to the bottom of the Shambles. It takes about 10mins and is £2.20 return.

Very enjoyable stay - pleasant location with friendly and personal service - Spiral staircase may not suit everybody but it added to the charm of the place for us. I will happily return here on my next visit to York.

What a warm, friendly place to stay - a place to recommend Easy to find in a great location with a warm welcome. A pleasant family room and a hearty home cooked breakfast catering for all our needs. Excellent local information and tips, nothing was too much trouble! Our daughters really enjoyed their stay too and have told all family and friends.

Great family accommodation with a seperate kitchenette and lounge area. It meant that for once we didn't have to go to bed when the kids did! Neat and tidy with friendly service, Thanks.

Although I originally booked 3 nights staying here with my 16yo son, we ended up staying for 5 nights. Lyn is a charming, friendly and lovely host. Nothing was too much trouble, she helped us organise our visits to York with local bus information, brochures and recommendations on what sites to see. The b&b is just out of York in a village with a little pub that serves nice meals. The bus runs regulary past the front door, so the lack of a car didn't matter at all. I would highly recommend this b&b and if I ever have an opportunity to return to this beautiful part of the UK, I will be booking this place. Thankyou so much Lyn for making our stay so comfortable. ps. I celebrated a birthday whilst staying here and awoke to a sumptious breakfast, a birthday card and gifts from Lyn and Alan!!! Overwhelming and so much more than you would expect. Highly recommend

Lovely charming house with lots of character. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. The welcome was warm and friendly, and the owner even helped us find a parking space and helped with our bags. Payment was taken on arrival, and check in was quick and efficiant, and then we were led up to our four poster room. I really liked the decor and finishing touches, which I don't think you tend to find in a conventional hotel. There were even flower fairy lights on the bed and fresh flowers in the room which really made it special. The house itself is very tastefully decorated, staying true to its heritage and style. There are lots of original features, like exposed brick walls and roof beams which give a really cosy feel. We arrived at 7pm, put our things in the room and then drove in to York which took around 10 minutes. We dined in York but then returned to Church View and enjoyed a drink in the Fox Inn, which is almost opposite the B&B, drinks prices were reasonable and the atmos

fantastic - will definitely visit again what a wonderful way to start the new year. we found church view on late rooms completely by accident and are so glad we did. the staff could not do enough to help us and the breakfast was excellent. not much in the way of local amenities but with a roaring open fire and a cosy atmosphere,(there were even toys for the kids to play with!) then why would you want to leave the premises! thanks again

An enjoyable stay We had a wonderful 5 days siteseeing York. Church View was a perfect base to operate from. Did not use our car because the bus service was so convenient. No parking problems and able to enjoy a beer. Accomodation clean, comfortable and warm. If you are looking for the Ritz this is not it. If you are looking for excellent value for money then this is it. I will happily stay again.

Half Term City Break with Young Children Church View B&B really was a fabulous find for us with two young children (10 and 5 years). We stayed for 3 nights during Feb half term and had a lovely time. The owners were so welcoming and friendly and could not do enough to help us. We stayed in a good size family room for four with ensuite bathroom and had use of the living room so we could put the children to bed and then relax in front of the TV. Location was just outside York city centre so nice and peaceful but on a good bus route, which we used every day. Also just down the road from a good pub which even had food to please our two children ! The breakfast served at the B&B was also fabulous with full english, cereal and toast on offer. Our children said they wanted to come back as soon as they could. All in all not much to fault and lots to be happy about.

Overnight Stay We enjoyed our one night stay and it got the thumbs up from our fussy children. The facilities were good and clean and there was plenty of choice for breakfast. The cottage is ideally situated for anyone contemplating visiting York be it for overnight stays or longer. Read less
