"what more could you want" I was remembered from my last stay. The friendlyness of the owners comes over, and as before I cannot fault any of my stay, either from the comfy bed, good shower and wonderfull full english breakfast.

"Couldn't have wished for more..." Two night stay with two teenage sons, attending football match at Stadium of Light, Sunderland. Plenty of space in en-suite family room, double & two single beds, easy chairs, flat screen tv & plentiful tea & coffee supplies. Excellent standard of cleanliness. Staff welcoming and friendly. Tasty full English breakfast! Close to sea front & within easy walking distance of Metro & bus station. Plenty of on-road parking.

"cricket watching granparents" this was our first time in the area and we were pleasantly surprised. we arrived in time to walk down to a great array of restaurants and enjoyed a very comfortable nights stay. the only downside was that we had only one nights stay as it would have been nice to explore the surrounding area. it was close enough to walk to the town centre but not too close to be disturbed later in the evening. the decor of our room was great along with really good quality curtains to keep the room dark.

"A welcoming guesthouse, definately one I'd recommend." We have just spent a lovely weekend at Brittania Guesthouse where we couldn't have been made more welcome. We stayed in one of the family rooms at the top of the house. The rest of the third floor was unoccupied so it was very quiet so, despite having both our children in the room with us, we all slept soundly. The location is great for families with young children...the street is quiet & there is a small playground on the park at the end of the road.Everything is a manageable walk away. Likes: The ladies who worked in the guesthouse were fantastic! They cooked up a storm at breakfast, were very friendly & were able to give helpful advice about local restaurants.

"Friendly, comfortable, clean, bright and a great breakfast! Great value!" My sister and I were staying overnight in Shields for a family funeral. We had a room each (one double and one twin) at the Britannia at the single occupancy rate - which included a exellent breakfast. Not knowing when I'd eat again, I had the full works of cereal and a full English breakfast with tea and orange juice. Bliss! The hotel is in a fabulous position near to the harbour and beaches and a perfect place to explore the Roman fort museum. Likes: The Britannia is immaculately clean and bright. Both of our rooms were comfortable with arm chairs for reading in and compact, but fully equipped and spotless en-suite shower-rooms.
