Bedford Lodge
The Perfect Setting...The Bedford Lodge is ideally situated in the beautiful Old Village of Shanklin and is set in its own south facing, private gardens with sloping lawns, mature trees, flowering bushes and a sun terrace with views towards the Downs...a perfect setting to watch the world go by. We sit right in Shanklin Old Village with access to a wonderful range of places to eat and drink, with only a short stroll home at the end of a busy day. No need to drive.

We have our own private car park so you didn't stress about paying parking charges.
We are all licensed premises with a bar.

Comfortable Rooms...
All of the twelve en-suite bedrooms are located on either the ground floor (some with direct access to the garden), first or second floors, and are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, central heating, colour television and duvets.

We are also agents for Wightlink and Red Funnell and are able to arrange car ferry crossings from Portsmouth to Fishbourne, Southampton to East Cowes and Lymington to Yarmouth. Just call us and I can get you a quote.

For rail and foot passengers, Wightlink offer a fast catamaran - 'The Fast Cat' - from Portsmouth Harbour. This connects to the Island Line train, with a direct service to Shanklin.

The Bedford Lodge is a beautiful house in a fantastic location above the Shanklin Chine/Beach, with a fantastic pub on the beach, the Fisherman's Cottage, within half a mile's easy walk. It's also right in the centre of the old town near the thatched pubs and pretty shops. The room was fairly small but very comfortable and ideal for our dog as we had a key to our room from the outside, along the terrace. The breakfasts were scrummy as well. The only downsides and the reason I didn't give the Bedford Lodge a 6 were: 1. The car park is steeply sloping and small. On our 2nd day, I partially burnt out my clutch trying to park in the one reamining space. 2. Our room wasn't cleaned on one of the days and I had t ask for another toilet roll. This seemed a bit odd.

We had a fantastic visit. Bedford Lodge was perfectly placed for us to just walk to where ever we wanted to go. The staff were fantastic, the food plentiful and the rooms comfortable. We even managed to get good weather in April.

Enjoyable Easter weekend in Shanklin at the Bedford Lodge. We have a lovely room overlooking the garden and excellent breakfasts and Karena was her usual helpful, friendly and enthusiastic host. Good value room.

All of us including the dog were made to feel very welcome. Lovely place. Fantastic breakfast - even the dog got some sausages! Will definately be back again and will stay longer.
