Barbican House
From the moment you arrive at this very special family run luxury bed and breakfast you cannot help to appreciate the warmth, comfort and hospitality offered by your host Adrian and Ann Bradley. Barbican House was built in 1888, it is a fine example of a Victorian town house of individual charm and character and has been restored sympathetically, retaining many of its lovely original features to provide delightful accommodation. All rooms are individually decorated to compliment the charm and character of the period.

All rooms are en-suite and have double glazing, central heating, ceiling fans, radio/alarm, tea and coffee making facilities and chocolate biscuits and a complimentary decanter of sherry.

Ideally situated within York, this Luxury York bed and breakfast overlooks the famous Medieval City Walls and is a 10 minute stroll to City Centre attractions. You can leave your car in our floodlit Car Park for the whole of your stay. We are close to some of the best and most reasonable restaurants and pubs in town. York Barbican Theatre is only 70 meters away and York University is only a 15 minute walk away.

Guests are invariably delighted that they found this York bed and breakfast luxury guest house partly because of the convenience of being so close to town, but more so because of the charm of this residence and the high standards maintained. This York bed and breakfast luxury guest house has been awarded four Star and Silver Award by the English Tourist Board.

All rooms have wide screen LCD TV with Freeview kingsize rooms and twins also have a DVD player.

The accommodation was fantastic and had a good choice for breakfast which we chose the night before. The owners were lovely, they kept checking we were ok and asked us what our plans were when we arrived and gave us tips about the best restaurants etc. They were always around and available to talk to if we needed them. It was really quiet and a good distance from the centre of York.

We upgraded to the kingsize bed, and had to pay an extra £10 for this. But on arriving, we could fault nothing. Staff were very helpful and friendly, and the room was beautiful. Breakfast in the morning was fit for a king! We would definitely go back there again. It is right on the city walls so you are just a stones throw from the beautiful city centre. We wish we had had more time there.

Both Adrian and Ann were great hosts and very professional. The room was spotless and the bathroom had complimentary quality products and big white fluffy towels. Its location was about a two minute walk from the Barbican Theatre in York and Yorks shopping centre was about a 10 minute walk. We had a good tea/coffee tray with various teas and chocolate bars too!!! The decanter of sherry was a lovely touch enven though we did not partake on this occassion. The breakfast was lovely with a fantastic choice from a fresh fruit platter right through to the wonderful cooked breakfast. All in all a great stay...we will return.

This was a superb B&B and Adrian and Ann were perfect hosts who made you feel very welcome and made time to talk to you and give you tips about places to visit and good places to eat. We stayed in their room across the road and it really was like home from home. The breakfast was to die for and once we'd had it we didn't need any food for the rest of the day! They made our stay perfect and we had a great weekend

I recently spent a long weekend in York with my parents, we stayed at Barbican House. They've got a family room just across the street which makes you feel like you've got your own flat in York, very convenient for 3 adults. There was complimentary sherry in the room, lovely chocolate bars and a wide variety of teas and coffee, even decaf! - which my mother was grateful for. The room was very clean and the bathroom was spotless. Adrian and Ann were very friendly and the breakfast was lovely - plenty of fuel to start the day! My mother has problems with her back and knees so the standing shower in Room 8 was excellent for her. The place is about a 10 minute walk to the city centre and not too close that you can't sleep at night, location is great. For those looking for places to eat/drink, we'd recommend Cafe Rouge, Oscar's and Lucia - Wine Bar & Grill. Adrian, Ann and the city of York made our long weekend a fantastic trip. We'd go back anytime, I just need time off work now!

My wife and I spent just one night at the Barbican House and the only fault was that our stay was not longer. The welcome was friendly; the room was spotless; there were lots of lovely little touches which made it a real home-from-home; the bed was comfy; the shower was equal to the best I have ever used (almost identical to our own at home), and the breakfast was superb. It is within a short walk of the many attractions of the city and we can thoroughly recommend it. Thank tou Anne & adrian.

My wife and I stayed at the Barbican House 'lodge'. Very impressed overall. They have obviously spent time getting the details right. The lodge was excellent in every way and very quiet. I will also go as far as saying that the breakfast was probably the best I have had of any B&B, and I have had many! I will go back.
