Bamburgh Castle Hotel, Seahouses

Bamburgh Castle Hotel is situated in the village of Seahouses just south of Bamburgh in the North East of England. Seahouses is a pretty fishing village in the historic and picturesque countryside of Northumberland. Our hotel overlooks the Harbour and is only a short drive from many historic landmarks and places to see in Northumberland.

The Castle which gives its name to the Hotel, is invested with a wealth of history. Originally built on the basalt outcrops of the Northumbrian coastline in the 5th century by the Britons, it was destroyed by the Vikings in the 10th century.

Aside from some alterations and general refurbishment, the castle which stands today is one which was built by the Normans on the site of the old ruin. Set on the Northumbrian coastline, close to Holy Island in the East and the Cheviot Hills in the West, Bamburgh is ideally positioned for history and nature lovers and has many historical paths and bridleways for walkers.

The Bamburgh Castle Hotel was originally part of the local farm buildings erected in the 19th century, then used for various aspects of daily life, including the village school and fire station. The hotel’s garden stands on top the old lime kilns which once stood outside the farm buildings, and which now creates a sense of elevation adding to the splendid views of the dramatic Northumbrian coast.
