Balsporran is a small family run B&B offering a warm welcome to your stay in the Highlands. We have a relaxing and informal atmosphere. Balsporran is in a secluded location at the heart of a number of Scotland's finest Munroe's –yet within easy travelling distance of the Cairngorms, Aviemore ( 30 minutes ) Inverness, Fort William and Perth ( all 60 minutes ),makes this an ideal location for walkers and tourists alike. We are 200 yards from the Sustran Cycle track, perfectly placed for cyclists.

Balsporran sits at almost 1500 feet in the Drumochter Pass beside the sparkling waters of the Allt Beul an Sporain and Truim. Taking its waters from the rain, snow and ice which flows through this historic, wild and romantic place. History has passed by with Clan battles, cattle raiding, the drovers would come and sell their cattle here. Wades road passed by and he may have housed his men here. The railway came in 1864 and used it to house theirs, and now travellers come for rest, security and to experience the Pass of Drumochter with all its history and magnificent Scenery. Many , who have stayed for just a while, feel the need to return, this place will leave lasting memories of its past and present

We spent one night at Balsporran Cottages and we had a great time. Great rooms and lovely breakfast. Very lovely owners. Just one negative point is that it is quite close from the main road...

We had an excellent stay at Balsporran Cottages. We had been cycling and arrived soaking wet but nothing was too much trouble for the owners. Our wet clothes were dried for us and our bikes were stored in dry outhouses. The rooms were very comfortable, the food was superb and the dressing gowns were greatly appreciated by 5 wet and tired cyclists.

Stayed at the time of the 2004 olympics, walked in the mountains behind the cottage - just us and the sheep, heather , streams and deer. Followed with a home cooked dinner of venison pie. Brilliant breakfast the next morning. Gorgeous rooms. So good we made sure we stayed again on our way back down to England. The hosts are really friendly and lots of atmosphere with dinner/breakfast in the kitchne with the hosts.
