Ashdene
A mile west of bustling Southwell and its lovely Minster, this stunning rosy-bricked house was once the old manor house of Halam and dates from 1520. Much travelled, David and Glenys have packed their house with wonderful paintings, samplers, embroidery, books on history and travel, lovely old rugs and comfortable furniture. Guests have their own drawing room with open fire and the bedrooms are gorgeous: pretty white bed linen, spotless bathrooms with fluffy towels and relaxing, neutral colours. Don’t creep around on egg shells, come and go as you like – but do ask about the area, they know it well.

Lovely people, beautiful, comfortable room with ensuit.. They gave us a key so that we could come in at a time that suited us. Breakfast was delicious and there was lots of it! Very pleasant stay

Excellent breakfast with homemade/local produce. Stunning gardens in a beautiful & quiet location. David & Glenys made us feel very welcome and right at home. Only flaw was that our room was not en-suite but we did have sole use of the bathroom outside on the landing.

We had a delightful weekend stay at Ashdene, thoroughly enjoying the beautiful surroundings of house and garden. We were made very welcome by our hosts and the home made food was delicious. Would recommend very highly.

Very warm welcome, including a log-fire. The accomodation was excellent -spacious, comfortable and relaxing and the food was good, including home-made bread! The hosts were more than helpful. We have no hesitation in recommending Ashedene as a superb B&B.
