Altnaharra Hotel
The North West Highlands of Scotland, one of Europe’s last great unspoilt wildernesses, is the magnificent location of the Altnaharra Hotel. Originally a drover’s inn, and with a history dating back to the late 17th Century, the Altnaharra Hotel has been attracting fishing enthusiasts from far and wide for over 170 years, earning itself a much-deserved reputation as a world class fishing destination. Retaining many of its period features reflecting its long history, the Altnaharra Hotel has been lovingly and meticulously restored and is now a luxury Scottish Highland getaway for fishing and shooting enthusiasts, as well as those looking for a relaxing and tranquil retreat. Altnaharra is also an ideal location for 'Munro Baggers' as it sits beneath the beautiful Ben Klibreck and is only a 25 minute drive from the most Northerly Munro on the mainland, Ben Hope. The area is also popular with cyclists as it is commonly used as the 'last stop' on the Lands End to John O Groats trip heading North.

This fantastic 14 bedroom hotel is one of the finest sporting and leisure hotels in Europe, at the heart of one of the world’s greatest fishing destinations. Our 14 en suite, 2 of which are deluxe, individually decorated bedrooms are in keeping with the traditional style of the Hotel. All rooms have televisions, private telephones. Many have stunning loch and Highland views. At the end of your day, our open fires and comfortable lounges provide you the perfect place to relax, unwind….and enjoy a drink in the homely atmosphere of the Hotel. Free wireless broadband access is available throughout the Hotel.

Whether it’s a relaxing picnic, a romantic escape, or an exhilarating and active day out, the Altnaharra Hotel can tailor your break to provide you with everything you need for your perfect Highland getaway. With horse riding, trekking, clay pigeon shooting, falconry at nearby Dunrobin Castle and one of the world’s most famous whisky distilleries, Glenmorangie, just an hour away in Tain, the activities and sightseeing opportunities when visiting the Altnaharra Hotel are in abundance. Altnaharra is just one hour from the world famous golf courses at Royal Dornoch, one of the top four golfing destinations in the world. Trips can be arranged by the Hotel.

Hotel clean, well furnished and tidy. Staff helpful and pleasant. Food good but lacking in choice. Organisation could be better for price charged.
