Kloster Kappel
The house is situated in a beautiful countryside region between Zurich and Lucern, with a magnificent view of the majestic Alps. 70 hotelrooms with shower/toilet and 15 conference and banquet rooms, a chapter, the old Church, a natural parc and vegetable garden invite guests to stay. Groups, individuals estimate this exceptional place for its quiet, strength, history to work concentrated or to recreate. The ancient Monastery had been founded in 1185 and continued to be used as a monastery until the reformation of the church of Zurich in 1527, when it was conferted into the residence of the officials designated by the city of Zurich. In 1834 it was transformed into an institution belonging to the near-by district of Affoltern, and 1980 saw the beginning of renovations which turned it into the House of Stillness and Contemplation which was inaugurated in 1983.

Wonderful to get out in the countryside away from city. Local shop with good hours so we could do some self catering. No kettle in room buut they'd gladly provide hot water when asked. Little coffee shop on site too. Will have memories of the cowbell sound coming through the windows on a rainy (as well as the sunny) days.
