Argonauta, Flores Island

Argonauta (Argonaut) historically stands for the “brave navigator” and is the name given to this old, traditional house which stands near the parish church. Dating back at least three centuries, the original building was thoroughly remodelled in 1929, when it featured the first bathroom in Fajã Grande and the only piano on the island of Flores. From 1991 until 1998, Argonauta functioned as a small guesthouse, waiting for the great work of restoration which has taken place at the end of the millennium and which broadened the house’s horizon. In 2006 and for the 16th consecutive year we’re peacefully welcoming visitors from any culture to Fajã Grande and Flores Island. The New Argonauta features 5 improved rooms with bathroom and steps into the Future sharing a goal with the past: to guarantee the usual, personal, High-Atlantic hospitality to guests, providing them with the secret maps for breathtaking walks, jeep tours, marine and lake routes by kayak…
